The coated paper in the gravure press is also known as coated printing paper, which is called powder paper in Hong Kong and other regions. It is a printing paper made of base paper coated with white paint. Mainly used for printed book covers and illustrations, color pictures, a variety of exquisite product advertising, samples, product packaging, trademarks and so on.
Coated paper is flat paper, the quantity is 70 ~ 250g/ square meter. The coated paper is divided into single side coated paper, double side coated paper, dull coated paper and cloth coated paper. According to the quality is divided into A, B, C three grades. The main raw materials of coated paper are copperplate base paper and paint. The requirements for copper plate base paper are uniform thickness, small scalability, high strength, and good water resistance. The paper surface shall not have spots, wrinkles, holes and other paper diseases, and the paint used for coating is composed of white pigments, adhesives (such as polyvinyl alcohol, casein, etc.) and auxiliary additives. The paint with high fluidity and high solid content is thinly and evenly coated on the base paper by the coating machine, and then dried, rolled into a reel on the paper winder, and then sent to the gravure press for calendro finishing, slitting, paper selection and packaging.
